Lee-Nadine Oppenheim, Ivymount’s Director of Finance and Operations, was recently awarded the Inspiring Dreams, Changing Lives Award by the Maryland Association of Nonpublic Special Education Facilities, or MANSEF. Lee was unanimously selected by the MANSEF Board to receive the recognition for her commitment to working in the field of special education for over 27 years.
“Lee is known for many things: her kindness and generosity, her determined advocacy in Annapolis for teacher parity and her technical ability to zero in on fiscal matters at issue,” said Dorie Flynn, Executive Director of MANSEF, who presented the award at the organization’s annual luncheon.
Lee has been a strong and influential champion for Ivymount School and other MANSEF schools to be included in State and Federal relief grants, which were crucial in maintaining consistent special education for students throughout and during the recovery from the worldwide pandemic.
“All of us in the special education community are part of that village that helps our students, our staff and our families, continue to grow and be the best they can be. I can’t wait to see how, together, we will continue to inspire dreams and change lives in the future.”

For years, Lee has led Ivymount’s efforts to apply for and receive State and County Government grants that help to fund accessibility upgrades to infrastructure as well as cyber and building security improvements. For many years, she has also made school safety a central focus, ensuring that MANSEF is a part of the Maryland Center for School Safety Advisory Board, that other MANSEF members are trained on all aspects of school safety, and co-creating the Especially Safe Special Needs Guide, which has been recognized nationally.
Congratulations to Lee on receiving the Inspiring Dreams, Changing Lives Award!
