The Post High School – School to Work, Autism, and Multiple Learning Needs Programs held on-site commencement ceremonies, welcoming family members and guests in the gym plus additional guests online. Graduates were celebrated for their achievements at Ivymount and their plans for post-secondary education, work, and volunteering.
Special guests included Montgomery County Council President Gabe Albornoz, Councilmember Andrew Friedson, and Maryland State Delegate Linda Foley, who each congratulated the graduates and welcomed them to participate in their communities.
Maristela Monteiro also gave moving remarks. Monteiro is an Outreach Board Member, alumni parent, and jobsite partner leader at her workplace, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). “To all parents here today, I want to thank you for trusting the school and investing in your kids. I know that without you, they would be nowhere close to where they are. I know from firsthand experience that it takes a lot of commitment and sacrifices to support and advocate for our kids and to teach them to be self-advocates,” she said. “Congratulations to all graduates. You need to be proud of what you achieved, how you achieved it, and where you achieved it.”
