Ivymount Research Featured in Kennedy Center Journal

Ivymount's research collaboration with Imagination Stage has recently been published in the Kennedy Center's journal, Intersections, Volume 3.

The research study, ArtAbility: Using Multi-Genre Arts Programming to Support Creative Engagement and Social and Emotional Learning in Middle-School Students with Autism, has been selected as one of nine articles describing emergent research, exemplary program models, and best practice in the instruction of students with disabilities in and through the arts.

Artability was a collaboration between Imagination Stage, Ivymount, and other groups that offered a summer arts program to students with autism and intellectual disabilities.

Dr. Eve Müller, Program Evaluator and Coordinator of Outcomes Research at Ivymount School, says, "ArtAbility appears to have had a really positive impact on participants' social learning. It was exciting to see so many participants develop friendships with peers, become better self advocates, and emerge as confident members of the ArtAbility creative community."
