WHY IS THIS STUDY BEING DONE?

The purpose of this study is to measure the following: 1) supervisors/employers' satisfaction with their Project SEARCH interns and/or permanent employees hired through Project SEARCH; and 2) supervisors/employers' satisfaction with the Project SEARCH program. Ivymount School and Programs and SEEC will invite approximately 80 Project SEARCH supervisors/employers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Montgomery County Government (MCG), Smithsonian Institution (SI), and Embassy Suites/Hilton Worldwide (ES/HW) to participate.

WHO IS SPONSORING THIS STUDY?

This study is a joint effort of Ivymount School and Programs and SEEC, the two organizations that operate the above named Project SEARCH sites. Sponsors for each Project SEARCH site include Denise Ford (NIH), Karen Hochberg (MCG), Beth Ziebarth (SI), and Charles Hill and David Piscola (ES/HW).

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE STUDY?

If you decide to take part, you will complete this 15-20 minute survey about your experiences as a Project SEARCH supervisor/employer.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE RISKS AND DISCOMFORTS?

We do not foresee any possible risks or discomforts. In order to keep track of who has responded, we are asking participants to share their names and contact information with Dr. Eve Muller, the researcher responsible for conducting this study. However, Dr. Muller is the only person who will have access to your survey responses, which will be stored on a password-protected hard drive.

WILL YOUR INFORMATION BE KEPT PRIVATE?

Although results of this study will be shared with Project SEARCH staff, and may also be presented at conferences and/or published, participants' names and identities will not be associated with any findings reported as a result of this study. Only Dr. Muller will have access to copies of your completed online surveys.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE BENEFITS OF TAKING PART IN THIS STUDY?

Although there are no direct benefits to your participating in this study, possible indirect benefits to taking part may include improved supports from Project SEARCH staff as a result of study results. If findings are shared more widely, your participation may also indirectly benefit other Project SEARCH sites throughout the nation.

WHAT ARE YOUR RIGHTS AS A PARTICIPANT, AND WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU DECIDE NOT TO PARTICIPATE?

Participation in this study is completely voluntary. Your decision as to whether to participate will not affect your current or future treatment as a Project SEARCH internship and/or employment site. If you decide to take part in this study, you are free to change your mind and stop being in the study at any time.
